DeptfordFolk's aim is to enhance, improve and promote local parks. We want to make sure people can get to parks and green spaces safely. We look beyond the boundaries of the parks and assess accessibility and safety in the surrounding streets. We look for opportunities to better streetscapes, better amenities and improved public realm. School routes and the accessibility and safety of routes between parks in North Deptford need to be improved. The Liveable Neighbourhoods funding, alongside other DeptfordFolk projects will make positive changes to the public realm.
DeptfordFolk, Sustrans & LB Lewisham succssfully bid for £2.9milion of investment to make streets in North Deptford safer and more accessible. We aim to transform walking and cycling with a new north-south traffic-free route along the former Grand Surrey Canal, pedestrian crossings, cycle parking, and street lighting.

Community Led Street Redesign 2017
DeptfordFolk worked with London Borough of Lewisham Highways and Walking/Cycling Charity Sustrans to redesign Rolt Street on the South Side of Folkestone Gardens. Currently a rat-run and school route with no safe crossing the road is also used for free parking. The community led redesign involved surveying park users, a collaborative design session and a plan for the future of Rolt Street. The project was shortlisted for a 2017 Mayor of London Healthy Streets award. The positive working relationship that developed with LB Lewisham and Sustrans led to the successful £2.9million Liveable Neighbourhoods bid
